Rennie Morkel
Rennie Morkel is the Chief Executive Officer of New Horizon Copper, where he is leading the transformation of the historic Kombat Mine into a modern, safe and sustainable copper operation. With a clear focus on operational excellence, responsible mining and long-term value creation, Rennie is driving the redevelopment of one of Namibia's most significant legacy mining assets.
Having played a central role in overseeing the successful transition of Kombat Mine following Horizon Corporation's investment, Rennie has been instrumental in assembling an experienced leadership team and establishing the foundations for the mine's successful restart. His hands-on leadership and practical approach have been critical in navigating the technical, operational and organisational challenges associated with revitalising a historic underground mining operation.
Under Rennie's leadership, New Horizon Copper is committed to operating safely, responsibly and efficiently while unlocking the long-term potential of Kombat's copper resources. He believes that sustainable mining extends beyond production, creating meaningful employment, supporting local businesses, investing in community wellbeing and ensuring that Namibia continues to benefit from the responsible development of its natural resources.
Rennie is passionate about building a high-performance culture founded on safety, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement. Richard Tayelor
Richard Tayelor is Chairman of the Board of New Horizon Copper and provides the strategic leadership and governance guiding the Company's long-term growth and development. As a central figure within the leadership team, Richard plays a key role in ensuring New Horizon Copper remains focused on delivering its vision of developing a safe and sustainable mining operation that unites communities, creates value for investors and strengthens Namibia's contribution to the global copper supply.
With extensive international mining experience, Richard has built his career specialising in mineral project assessment, acquisition, development and management, together with a strong understanding of global commodity markets. His broad commercial perspective and technical knowledge enable him to identify opportunities, manage investment risk and guide the responsible development of mining assets from evaluation through to production.
Richard brings significant experience across Africa's emerging mining markets, where he has worked with diverse stakeholders to advance projects while balancing commercial objectives with environmental responsibility and community engagement. His leadership is founded on the belief that successful mining operations create lasting benefits not only for shareholders, but also for employees, host communities and the countries in which they operate.
As Chairman, Richard is committed to maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance, responsible resource development and operational excellence. Working closely with the executive leadership team, he is helping position New Horizon Copper and the redevelopment of the historic Kombat Mine as a long-term contributor to Namibia's economic growth and the increasing global demand for responsibly produced copper.
